Ulla Von Brandenburg
This unique edition by Ulla von Brandenburg was created on the occasion of her first solo exhibition at IMMA in 2008. Designed by Clemens Hanicht, this deck of 79 playable tarot cards was directly related to a work in the exhibition. The cards are presented in a special hand made box designed and produced by the artist.
Born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1974,Ulla von Brandenburg works in a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, video, film, installation and performance, Brandenburg’s practice reflects her training in set design and visual art, existing in a world between reality and artifice. Her work is based on historical elements of varied origins and significance, sourced from literature, the visual arts, expressionist theatre, Hollywood films, photography, magic and pre-Freudian psychoanalysis. Recent solo exhibitions by the artist include Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2006; Kunsthalle, Zürich, 2006; Project PS1, New York; Art: Concept, Paris, 2007; Produzentengalerie, Hamburg, 2007 and Kunsthalle, Düsseldorf, 2008. Group exhibitions include Performa 07, New York, 2007; The World as a Stage, Tate Modern, London 2007; Against Time, Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm, 2007 and biennials in Jerusalem, Bucharest, Prague and Sydney. Clemens Habicht, designer of the pack is an illustrator, graphic designer and film director based in Paris.
